Reception areas are important parts of a restaurant too

It’s only natural to think that the dining area is the most important area of a restaurant. After all, that’s where customers spend the greatest and most meaningful amount of time in a dining establishment. But other areas of the restaurant contribute to the experience too, including the rest rooms and not the least of all, the reception area.

In fact, the reception area plays a vital role in how customers, especially first-timers, form their opinion about a restaurant since it’s the first area they usually see. And if they’re waiting for their reservation to become available or if they’re just waiting to be seated, then it’s a place in which they’ll be spending at least a few minutes. Hence the importance of making sure that the restaurant reception area is comfortable and cozy.

It would never do to have customers just standing around while they wait to be seated. Fortunately, there are many varieties of commercial reception chairs available that can keep them at ease and in comfort. The busier a restaurant is, the more well-planned and accommodating their reception areas should be.

A reception area need not be large and fancy. What’s important is the selection of furnishings and furniture to temporarily accommodate guests before they enter the dining area itself. Depending on the room’s size and the restaurant’s decorative theme, a restaurant owner can choose to furnish his or her reception area with individual chairs or larger couches. It would be preferable if such items were easy to re-arrange, to meet changes in customer traffic. For instance, it would be ideal to have the ability to add more chairs during busier nights or when there are special events when a greater number of customers are expected.

And while it’s ideal to keep the customers’ waiting time to a minimum, it doesn’t hurt to have something for them to look at or keep them occupied while they’re in the reception area. Perhaps a cabinet showcasing some restaurant memorabilia, or framed pictures showing famous people who’ve graced the restaurant in the past will help build anticipation of the experience they are going to get at that place.
